Women-on-Wheel bikes to be distributed in Faisalabad today

Strategic Reforms Unit Director General Salman Sufi said in a statement, “Women-on-Wheels campaign is creating a strong wave in society pertaining to women’s mobility and access to public spaces.
The campaign has created a direct impact on hundreds of girls who relied on male members of the family for commuting to school, work or to complete errands, to now take charge of their lives."
The campaign will be distributing motorbikes among the first batch of successful candidates from Faisalabad today (Tuesday). The Women-on-Wheels Motorbike Subsidy Scheme was launched in January and handed over bikes to 700 successful candidates across the five districts of Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Rawalpindi. Around 250 of these candidates belong to Faisalabad.
The campaign launched in 2015 initiated provision of free motorbike training for women. This marked the first time in the history of the country, where the government took keen interest to address societal norms to recognise women’s rightful access to public spaces.

This was done to facilitate more institutions that approach Tevta for affiliations and registrations. He said this year Tevta set a target of imparting technical and vocational education to more than 40 thousands and by easing the registration process this number may increase than the target.
Irfan said besides 400 of its own institutions Tevta has also registered around 260 institutions in which 30 thousand students were enrolled. “Tevta also monitor these institutions for whole year through a specialised mechanism in order to maintain their quality and update the syllabus,” he added.
