Pakistan reach Street Child Football World Cup final
KARACHI: Pakistan on Monday created history when they put up their best-ever performance to qualify for the final of the Street Child Football World Cup, beating Indonesia in the semi-finals on penalty shootout in Moscow on Monday.
Pakistan’s children kept their nerves and toppled Indonesia 5-4 on penalties to set final date with Uzbekistan. On Sunday, Pakistan had defeated Tajikistan 2-0 in the quarter-finals. Before that Pakistan had defeated Uzbekistan and Russia.
In the 2014 Brazil World Cup, Pakistan had lost to Burundi 3-4 in the semi-finals. Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) chief Faisal Saleh Hayat congratulated the team for the superb performance.
“The youngsters have made the country and football community proud,” Faisal said on Monday.“I hope the team will also win the final against Uzbekistan,” he said.
