Peshawar stay on top in U23 games
PESHAWAR: Peshawar dominated the Inter-Regional Under-23 Female Games here on Monday.
Peshawar recorded victories in the basketball, baseball, hockey, handball, cricket and volleyball events to stay on top.Hazara, Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar also qualified for the finals of the judo competitions while Mardan, Kohat and Bannu got berths in the taekwondo finals.
Peshawar won four gold and three silver medals in athletics to stay on top while Mardan with three gold came second and Hazara remained at third position.Peshawar defeated Swat 25-15 in basketball and upset strong Mardan team in hockey final 2-1.In baseball, Peshawar defeated Hazara 9-5 and won the handball match against Mardan 5-4. Mardan captured the netball title defeating Swat 12-9 in the final.
In the men’s archery event, Peshawar claimed gold followed by Swat and Mardan respectively. Kohat won four gold and two silvers in taekwondo, followed by Dera Ismail Khan with two gold as many silvers and three bronze medals. Hazara came third with three silvers and five bronze medals.
