FIR against PTI Karachi workers: MPA appeals to CJP to take suo motu notice
Bureau report
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Fazal Elahi on Monday appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to take suo motu action against the registration of, what he said was, false first information reports (FIRs) against the party workers in Karachi.
Speaking at a news conference, he said people were protesting against the murder of a minor girl in Karachi on April 15 but the police resorted to firing at the peaceful protestors resulting in the death of a person and causing injuries to others.
He said the police registered the FIR against PTI Karachi East chapter president Dr Saeed Afridi, and 150 others including six other workers.
Terming it an injustice, he said the Karachi police had launched a move against Pakhtuns in the port city. He appealed to the CJP to provide justice to innocent citizens by taking suo motu action.
