FAISALABAD: Pakistan Textile Exporters Association vice-chairman Rizwan Riaz has expressed concern over 12.9 per cent drop in exports during the last month and demanded the government take immediate steps to control the situation.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said that textile exports also witnessed 2.91 per cent decline in Feb 2015, adding that the country exported textile goods worth $1.087 billion in Feb against exports of $1.119 billion in the same month of previous year. Export of value added items also witnessed negative growth as cotton cloth down by 15.47 per cent, bed wear 4.82pc and towels 8.34pc as compared to same month of previous fiscal, he added. To secure interest of economy, he urged the government to bring positive changes in textile sector.
BODY FOUND: An unidentified dead body of a woman was found from a canal near Chak 1/JB on Wednesday.
Sources said that some unidentified accused had murdered the woman after torturing her. Nishatabad police have sent the body to the Allied Hospital for autopsy.
DACOITY: A dacoity incident was reported here on Wednesday.
Six dacoits stormed into the house of JI Dijkot ameer Dr Muhammad Khalid and took away cash, ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 450,000.
