Minor girl raped, killed in Larkana
KARACHI: Larkana police declared two drug addicts as the responsible for the sexual assault and killing of a minor girl, 9-year-old, Saima Jarwar in Ayub Colony, Larkana.
Well-placed sources of Larkana police informed ‘The News’ that after the incident some 57 persons were detained and after the investigation two persons Waqar Mughul and Abid Sheikh found as responsible for the incident.
Same sources added that both the accused persons had confessed to the crime.
Sources further said that Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Sial on Friday (today) May 4 would announce the arrest of the accused persons in a press conference here at Larkana.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the same district, the native area of Home Minister Sial, only in last ten days, two other minor girls were attempted to rape and one of them killed brutally but in both cases culprits were still at large.
In first incident in the limits of Police Station Allahabad 7-year-old Saima Solangi was attempted to rape and murdered and in second incident 6-year-old Eman Abro in the limits of Police Station Baqaur was attempted to rape but remained safe.
Figures collected by a civil society organisation, Sindh Child Rights Movement (CRM) suggests that only in current year, 166 incidents of child abuse were reported in Sindh.
The chief justice of Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali Shiekh on May 2 took notice of the incident and summoned a report from Larkana District and Sessions judge over the matter.
The CJS also summoned Deputy Inspector General of Police, Larkana, Abdullah Sheikh and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Larkana, Tanveer Hussain Tunio to appear in person on May 7.
Saima’s family shared that she had left home on April 24 to buy confectionaries for herself however she never returned. Next day, her body was recovered from the drain.
The body was moved to Chandka Medical Hospital but the post-mortem was conducted six hours later due to non-availability of the doctors, the victim’s father Naseem Jarwar claimed.
Civil society activists, trade union, political and religious parties condemned the rape attempt and brutal murder of Saima Jarwar and announced a complete shutter down strike on May 5 in Larkana.
Spokesman for SSP Larkana Qatar Kangho informed The News that police solved the case and in one or two days all details would be shared with media officially.
Mr Kangho concluded that many arrests were made to reach real culprits and investigations were under way in the supervision of senior police officials.
