SNGPL Tennis main round gets under way
LAHORE: Main round of 2nd All-Pakistan Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) Tennis Championship 2018 started here at the PLTA courts Bagh-i-Jinnah on Wednesday.
On the opening day 14 matches were played in men’s singles. In the only upset on first day unseeded player from Peshawar Asadullah beat 8th seeded Abdal Haider 6-4, 6-1. All other top seeds qualified for pre- quarterfinals.
Results: Aqeel Khan beat Syed Hadi Hussain by 6-0, 6-0, M Abid beat Israr Gul of KP 6-2, 6-3, Farhan Ullah Khan beat Jahanzeb by 6-3, 6-3, Usman Rafique beat Muhammad Khaliq by 6-4, 6-4, Yousaf Khan beat Shahid Afridi by 7-5, 6-3, Ijaz Khan beat Shahzad PAF by 6-4, 7-5, Abbas Khan beat Tanveer Munir by 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, Mudasir Murtaza of Jahania beat Hassan Riaz of Lahore by 6-3, 6-4, Bakat Ullah beat Mian Bilal by 6-3, 6-3, Ahmed Babar beat Shakirullah by 6-1, 6-0, M Shoaib of KP beat Umer Babar of Lahore 6-4, 6-2, Ahemad Babar beat Sakirullah by 6-1, 6-0, Zaid Mujahid beat Zaryab Peerzada by 6-1, 6-4, Heera Ashiq beat Zeeshan Ashraf by 6-1, 6-2.
Chief guest of the opening ceremony was Deputy Managing Director SNGPL Amir Tufail. Also present on the occasion were President Sports Cell Sohail Gulzar, Gen Secretary Ashraf Nadeem.
