FAISALABAD: University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan has called for promoting book reading habit to foster the culture of harmony, love and tolerance in the society.
Inaugurating a five-day book fair at the UAF on Tuesday, he said that the book reading habit needed to be promoted among the people as it helped in ideological growth of the people. He said that the university was setting up another state-of-the-art three-storey library.
Registrar Muhammad Hussain, Treasurer Umar Saeed Qadri, Dean Sciences Dr Muhammad Javed, Dean Agri Engineering Dr Allah Bakhsh, HR Director Shafqat Iqbal, Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Aslam, DSA Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Director External Linkages Dr Muhammad Ashfaq, Forestry Department Chairman Dr Tahir Siddique, Student Affairs Principal Officer Dr Muhammad Younus, Director Extension Dr Tanvir Ali and others were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, addressing a prize distribution in connection with the Pakistan Day here, the UAF vice-chancellor said that gender mainstreaming was essential to make the progress and to compete with the world. He called for devoting all energies to work for the development. He stressed upon the need for active participation of women in the socio-economic activities by recalling the saying of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah: “No nation can ever be worthy of its existence that cannot take its women along with the men.”
About the UAF initiatives for students, he said that a state-of-the-art student facilitation centre was being set up in the university.
In the hostels category, Qaddafi Hall, Amina Hall, Faisal Hall, Iqbal Hall and Khadeeja Hall won the competitions.
