BAHAWALPUR: Execution of two out of three murder convicts, scheduled for March 25 (today) in the New Central Jail, was stopped on Tuesday evening.
The two convicts whose hanging was deferred are Khadim Hussain and Lonay Khan. The execution of Khadim Hussain was stayed by the Lodhran district and sessions judge after reconciliation between the complainant and the prisoner’s father. The complainant pardoned the convict after getting 2 acre agriculture land as compensation of his nine-year-old son, who was murdered by Khadim after molesting in 2002.
The hanging of Lonay Khan of Basti Agasiwala was stopped by the Bahawalpur district and sessions judge till March 30. The daughters of murdered Khan Muhammad filed a petition in the court in which they asked for staying the execution as both parties were trying for reconciliation.
Meanwhile, relatives of third condemned prisoner Ghulam Yasin of Basti Allah Rakha met him in the jail.
