NAB chairman takes notice of rules violations in Narowal Sports City
ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal on Monday ordered complaint verification of a media report regarding alleged spending of Rs6 billion on construction of Narowal Sports City of 44 acre of land which is situated only 800 meters from the Indian border.
Just a day ago prior of notice of Chairman NAB, President Mamnoon Hussain inaugurated Narowal Sports City in Narowal. The chairman NAB took notice that Narowal Sports City was being constructed in violation of rules and that too despite security reservations.
Chairman NAB ordered Director General NAB Rawalpindi to verify the complaint of official foreign tour of former DG Pakistan Sports Board Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera after retirement. The DG NAB will also verify the complaint that why DG Pakistan Sports Board Akhtar Ganjera had been made project director of Narowal Sports City despite holding the appointment of DG PSB in violation of rules. It is to be mentioned here that the Narowal Sports City project was a brain child of Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.
