Riffat to face Zoya in National Women Squash final
LAHORE: The final of the 1st Chief Minister Punjab National Women Squash Championship-2018 between Riffat Khan and Zoya Khalid will take place on Monday here at the Punjab Suqash Complex.
The girls under 19 final will be played between Amna Fayyaz and Noor ul Huda at 2.00 pm. Chief guest of the final will be Director General Sports Punjab Amir Jan.On Sunday, four semifinals were played and President Punjab Squash Association Dr. Nadeem Muktar, Secretary Sheraz Saleem, VP Tariq Farooq Rana, Muhammad Asim, Arshad, Muhammad Imran, Shoaib Masood, and Shahid witnessed the ladies fight for top honours.
In first semifinal of the women seniors, Zoya Khalid (Army) beat Rushna Mehboob (Army) score 11/7, 11/13, 11/4, 11/5 (32 minutes). Zoya Khalid played very good and she beat her opponent in straight games. In the second semifinal, Riffat Khan (WAPDA) beat Saima Shaukat (WAPDA) 11/6, 10/12, 11/6, 11/3 (27 minutes).
Saima Shaukat was favorite for the match but Riffat Khan played a well calculated game and won the first game. However after losing the second game, she bounced back to win the semifinal and qualified for the final.
In under 19 girls category Amna Fayyaz (PIA) beat Aiman Shahbaz (SNGPL) 12/10, 11/1, 11/4 (16 minutes). Both played good squash but Amna Fayyaz used her experience and beat her opponent easily.
In 2nd semifinal Noor Ul Huda (SNGPL) beat Noor ul Ain Ejaz (SNGPL) in a very close contested match that lasted for 40 minute with a score being 11/8, 11/9, 7/11, 11/8. She won first two games, lost third then came back strongly and won 4th and won the semifinal.
