PAC directs NAB to furnish inquiry report on Grand Hyatt Hotel by May 8

ISLAMABAD: The Sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Thursday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to furnish the inquiry report on the Grand Hyatt Hotel till May 8 to the committee.

The sub-committee of the PAC was held with the chair of its Convener Mian Abdul Manan here Thursday in the audit paras related to Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the year 2010-11 were examined.

The NAB told the sub-committee of the PAC that it had initiated the inquiry into the construction of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in red zone of Islamabad in January which is underway so far while chairman NAB asked to complete the inquiry by the first week of the May.

While examining the audit paras related to the allotment of 20 plots to the influential, the CDA officials told the committee that out of 20 plot allotments, 19 plots were allotted on the fake names and 1 plot was allotted through a fraud. “The departmental action against the CDA officials has been taken while the allotment of five plots is being investigated by the FIA,” the CDA officials told the committee.

During the meeting, an affected woman made a plea before the sub-committee for the regularisation of her plot and said the house was already constructed on it and even fee was paid and should be regularised.

The sub-committee on the humanitarian ground recommended to the CDA for the restoration of the plot of the widow.
