GUJRANWALA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Thursday registered cases against five Gepco officers, including Gepco housing society chairman, for their alleged involvement in fraud of a land deed.
ACE Regional Director Fareed Ahmed said a citizen Javed Iqbal Samra filed a writ petition, alleging that Gepco Employees Housing Federation chairman Munir Ahmed and other officers, in connivance with a property dealer Tahir Shah, forged the deed of his land worth millions of rupees on bogus stamp papers.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment officers have registered the cases and started investigation against Munir Ahmed, members board of directors purchase committee Amanat Ali Bhatti, M Iqbal Dar, Waliur Rehman, property dealer Tahir Shah, witnesses Zahid Hashmi and M Arif.
Youth shot dead: A youth was gunned down in People’s Colony police precincts on Thursday. Reportedly, some unidentified accused barged into the house of 25-year-old Bilal and opened fire, which resulted in his immediate death. People’s Colony police have started investigation.
FOUR HELD FOR RUNNING ILLEGAL CURRENCY
EXCHANGES: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) teams Thursday arrested four persons for running illegal currency exchanges.
Deputy director Mufakhir Adeel said the FIA teams conducted raids in Sialkot, Gujrat and Narowal and arrested Abbas Ali, Abdul Ghafoor, Umair Nisar and Javed Ilyas. At least 20,000 Euros and Rs7.5 million were recovered from the accused. Investigation is under way.
ACE ARRESTS PO: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) circle officer Thursday arrested a proclaimed offender, involved in a fraud case, here from Wazirabad. Regional director Fareed Ahmed told that accused M Arif had fraudulently registered bogus mutation of nine kanal land. On the application of land owner Naziran Begum, allegation leveled against him was proved and the accused had been declared proclaimed offender since 2014.
TWO WORKERS INJURED IN FACTORY FIRE: Two workers received burn injuries in fire incident at a factory here at Hafizabad Road on Thursday. Workers were busy working in a wiper manufacturing factory when a room suddenly caught fire. Two labourers Abdullah and M Jawad received burn injuries. The injured persons were shifted to DHQ hospital.
