'8,500 CCTV cameras to be installed in Peshawar'
PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Salahuddin Khan Mahsud has said that trader community plays a pivotal role in economic prosperity and development of the country and assured that they would be provided congenial and peaceful atmosphere.
Addressing a delegation of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the IGP said that besides Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, the trader community also offered sacrifices in the ongoing war against terror.
The IGP informed that traders were law-abiding and peaceful citizens, which was why every effort was being made to provide them a conducive atmosphere for their business. The police chief said that the police was fully committed to fighting terrorism and other
crimes and the war against crime and terror would continue till its logical end. "We have broken the back of these elements and will achieve more success against them," he maintained.
He added that under the Safe City Project, 8,500 CCTV cameras would be installed on different points, which would go a long way in identification of crimes and criminals. The police chief informed the delegation that the City Patrol Police have successfully foiled 5,500 crimes in a short time.
Earlier, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Zahid Shinwari briefed the IGP about the problems and difficulties being faced by the traders. They suggested installation of CCTV cameras at different places, and solution to traffic hazard and other problems.
