Aqeel annexes CAS KhyberCup Tennis
ISLAMABAD Pakistan’s ace tennis player Aqeel Khan lifted the trophy of the 37th Chief of the Air Staff Khyber Cup Open Tennis Championship after defeating Muhammad Abid in the final played at PAF Officers’ Mess Peshawar.
Pakistan’s star player Aqeel Khan defeated Muhammad Abid in straight sets with the score 6-0 and 6-1. Aqeel had complete supremacy over his opponent with his forceful double handed smashes and some good serves. In the men’s doubles Aqeel Khan and Shahzad defeated Muhammad Abid and Usman Rafiq by 6-0 and 6-2. In the Senior doubles Israr and Jehanzeb defeated Irfan and Mehmood by 6-0 and 6-4. In the Under 10 category Hamza Roman defeated Jamal Khan by 4-0 and 4-1. In the Under-14 category Sami Zeb defeated Uzair by the score of 6-1 and 6-1. In the Boys Under-18 Muhammad Shoaib recorded victory against Aqib Khan by the score of 6-1 and 6-1. In the Ladies singles Sara Mansoor defeated Esha Jawad by 6-1 and 6-0 in a one-sided affair. At the end, Air Commodore Qaiser Janjua, Base Commander PAF Base Peshawar, who was the chief guest at this occasion, gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up. Salim Saif Ullah, President Pakistan Tennis Federation, was also present at the occasion. All top ranking national players participated in the seven-category event.
