ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar Tuesday said he had stopped taking suo motu notices after the bar councils’ objection, but he could not forswear that he won’t take suo motu notices in future. During the hearing of a case concerning reforms in the legal education system, the chief justice said he would take suo motu notice wherever he saw human rights being trampled or the law and constitution being violated.
As the three-member bench initiated hearing in the PTV managing director’s appointment case, a female employee urged the chief justice to take suo motu notice on the issue of PTV employees.
Responding to her request, the chief justice remarked that he had stopped taking suo motu notices.
The state-owned employee told the chief justice that she had read his statement (of not taking suo motu notices) in a newspaper.
The chief justice asked the employee if he should take the last suo motu notice on her request.
