Pakistan forms narrative for peaceful, clean, green country, say speakers

April 25, 2018

ISLAMABAD: Speakers here at a seminar said Pakistan is working to create a clear narrative to countering violent extremism and for a peaceful, clean and green country. Various law and environment experts and scholars in the seminar titled ‘Peaceful, Clean and Green Pakistan’, organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), here on Tuesday said it is the need of the hour to collectively fight against the menace of terrorism and protect the environment of the country.

Addressing the seminar, expert lawyer Dilawar Khan said that Pakistan did not have a counter narrative against terrorism after the 9/11 incident, adding in the recent years the country was trying to make a narrative against terrorism like the Paigham-e-Pakistan.

The expert said that the Paigham-e-Pakistan is a national narrative that reflects unity and religious responsibility of religious scholars from all schools of thought, adding it would play a key role in eliminating terrorism, trend of declaring others infidels, sectarianism and killing of innocents.

He said it was now easier for the youth to play their role to curb terrorism as the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has launched online Smartphone applications ‘Chaukas’ (meaning alert) and surf safe web portal.

He said the applications would help the user to share any act of terrorism and extremism like wall chalking, promoting sectarian violence and anti-state violence, particularly the surf cafe would help to counter cyber crime issues related to sharing of hate speech and terrorist content on social media websites.

He further said the information recorded through the application would be shared with the police, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other law enforcement agencies for necessary action. The information of citizens would be kept confidential, he added.
