OKARA: The ringleader of Shauki Oadh gang was killed while his accomplice escaped during an encounter with Basirpur police near Shahamand Bridge on Saturday night.
Saifullah of Basirpur was on way home when two dacoits snatched cash, the motorcycle and other valuables from him. On information, police rushed to the spot and started chasing the dacoits. On seeing police, the dacoits opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. As a result, a dacoit was killed on the spot while his accomplice escaped. The killed dacoit was later identified as Shaukat Oadh alias Shauki, the ringleader of Shauki Oadh gang. The killed dacoit was wanted in several dacoity, robbery and theft cases. The gang members used to rape women during dacoities. Police have registered a case.
CANTT BOARD ELECTIONS: A meeting regarding the Cantonment Board elections was held in the DCO Office here.
Provincial Minister Irrigation Mian Yawar Zaman, Sahiwal Commissioner Sohail Shahzad, MNA Chaudhry Muhammad Arif, Okara DCO Qaisar Saleem, Sahiwal DCO Sajid Mehmood Chohan, Okara DPO Muhammad Faisal Rana Sahiwal DPO Muhammad Idrees Ahmad and others attended the meeting. The affairs of tenants belonging to the Anjuman-e-Mazareen Punjab also came under discussion as they had roots in the cantonment area and other army-administered lands in the district.
GIRL RAPED: A girl was raped at Chak 53/2-L. Nasreen Bibi was busy working in her house when Mustafa entered and allegedly raped her. Sadr police have registered a case and started investigation.
