Traffic mess at Trimmu Bridge enters second week

JHANG: Traffic blockage on Jhang-Layyah and Bukhar Road at Trimmu Bridge has entered the second week.
The Jhang-Layyah and Bukhar Road via Trimmu Bridge is the shortest route, linking upper and lower Punjab. Due to the road blockage, passengers and travellers carrying their luggage and children had no option other than to pass 1km long bridge on foot to get transport for further travelling.
Overloaded and heavy trailers are allowed to pass through the bridge due to the permanent closure of Jhang-Multan Road Bridge at Haveli Bahadur Shah. The traffic issue worsened last week when a sugar mill of Jhang Sadr area closed its crushing season without observing that the crop loaded on tractor-trolleys was available in its jurisdiction. The district administration instead of taking up the root cause of the issue is trying to resolve the issue by increasing the number of staff to control traffic. The people have appealed to the high-ups concerned to take notice of the inefficiency of the district administration.
DCO Nadir Chattha his version on Facebook said that he visited the area on Saturday and it was an awful traffic mess. The traffic remained stuck for an hour. He said that he immediately spoke to the DPO, who sent about 100 policemen and they were working to make the things better. He said: “I have convened a meeting of all stakeholders at the DCO Office on Wednesday. I have also invited the people to the meeting with innovative ideas and if you are unable to come please send their comments through Facebook.”
