Nothing can be achieved until education given proper attention: CJP
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar Monday said nothing can be achieved until education is given proper attention by the state institutions.
The chief justice said this while chairing a meeting on educational reforms in the Supreme Court. The meeting was attended by Federal Ombudsman Tahir Shahbaz, ex-chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, federal secretaries of the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) and Federal Education and Professional Training and provincial secretaries of the education ministries of all the provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK.
The chief justice gave the participants his vision about education being a fundamental right of every citizen as guaranteed under Article 25-A of the Constitutional of Pakistan. He said education is the cornerstone for the economic development of any country. He said nothing can be achieved until education is given proper attention by the state institutions.
“It is not duty of court to make policies on education. Being a fundamental right of every citizen, it is our responsibility to ensure that the government fulfils its obligations,” he said. Therefore, he said, every effort will be made to ensure quality education across the country.
