Kabaddi banned in schools after death
LAHORE: Following tragic death of a 6th grade student while playing Kabaddi in a public school in district Khanewal the other day, School Education Department (SED) Punjab on Monday banned Kabaddi in educational institutions across the province.
A notification “Ban on Kabaddi activities during recess time in educational institutions” was issued on 16 April in this regard. The notification reads, “During recess time, all such activities and games which may cause serious incident are totally banned. Recess incharge should keep an eye during recess time to avoid such incident in future.”
Bilal, a sixth grade student at Government High School Mian Channu, Khanewal, died while playing Thappar Kabaddi (face-slapping) on 14 April.

LAHORE: JI secretary general Liaquat Baloch condemned firing of shots at the residence of Justice Ijazul Ahsan of Supreme Court in Lahore and said the incident had given rise to several questions.
In a statement on Monday, he stressed the judiciary, executive and state institutions to hold a thorough enquiry into the incident and bring to light all the facts. He said it was the responsibility of society as a whole to protect independent judiciary and judges. At the same time, he said, the judiciary should perform its duties as an impartial and independent institution. Liaquat Baloch said governments were completing their constitutional term but there was an atmosphere of uncertainty and mistrust. He said that Pakistan was the target of enemy forces who wanted the country to drift away from the path of democracy, stability and peace. He said it was the responsibility of the political leadership as and other state institutions to foil every such conspiracy by sticking to the constitution.
