Pakistan’s Super Kabaddi League from May 1
KARACHI: Pakistan’s Super Kabaddi League (SKL) begins on May 1 in Lahore, with teams having two foreign players each.
“A total of 16 foreign players have confirmed their participation. Each of the eight teams will be able to pick two foreign players,” Sarwar Rana, Secretary General Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) told PPI.
According to Sarwar, the foreign players belong to Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Kenya and Iraq.Sarwar justified the low foreign participation in the league saying that they wanted to give more chances to the local talent.
The eight teams will play matches on single league basis and the top two teams at the end of the league matches will play the final. The third and the fourth teams will play for the third place.
The last four teams will play for the fifth and the seventh places, according to their positions.The league has been endorsed by International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) president Janardan Singh Gehlot.Strawberry Sports Management is organising this league. PKF is providing technical assistance.The league was tentatively scheduled for April but had to be rescheduled.
