LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the dream of prosperity will not materialise until transparent accountability is carried out, adding they were sticking to the stance on making Bahawalpur/South Punjab province.
Talking to PFUJ office-bearers and members of its executive council on Sunday, the chief minister said he was working day and night for the country’s development. “I do not care about my health and ignore warnings of my personal physician. Due to medical history, I am forced to take medical opinion from the UK-based doctors,” he added.
To a question asked by a journalist, the chief minister said Nawaz Sharif was our Quaid, he is still our Quaid and he will remain our Quaid in future as well. There are no differences in the PML-N. Difference of opinion may exist in a democratic party and it is a positive matter and improves party affairs.
He said in the Nandipur project, there was no bidding and the contract was awarded. Babar Awan delayed the matter and court also holds him responsible for the delay and no action is taken. Why NAB is silent on this matter? He said those nations move forward where individuals and institutions work jointly. He said with unity and harmony the time will come when Pakistan will progress like Japan and Singapore. He said the PML-N took practical step on the issue of new provinces by tabling resolutions on the subject. The PML-N government increased development budget of South Punjab to 42 percent which is much higher than the ratio of the population.
Meanwhile, the chief minister congratulated wrestler Muhammad Inaam Butt, who won a gold medal in Commonwealth Games for Pakistan. The chief minister also expressed grief over the death of renowned religious scholar and Mohtimam of Dar-ul-Aloom Deoband Maulana Muhammad Salim Qasmi. In his condolence message, he said may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
