SHC moved against ‘illegal detention’ of former UC nazim
A member of former union council nazim Abdul Wasay’s family has approached the Sindh High Court for his recovery, alleging that he was picked up by personnel of law enforcement agencies from Shah Faisal Colony.

He further said that his brother was a social activist and had nothing to do with any criminal activities. He told the court that neither personnel of other law enforcement agencies were providing any details of charges against him nor was he being produced before any court of law.
Citing the director general of the Sindh Rangers, the provincial police chief, the DIG East, Karachi, and others as respondents, the high court was requested to the direct them to produce the detainee before the court and release him if not required in any case.
Notices issued
The Sindh High Court issued notices to federal and provincial law officers on petitions against the alleged illegal detention of citizens by personnel of law enforcement agencies.
Shamim Bibi, Jameela, Shabana and Fasiullah submitted in their petitions that Riaz, Mujahid, Mohammad Zahid, Nadir Ali and Akhtarullah were picked up by police and other law enforcers from 13-D Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shah Faisal, Saeedabad and Baldia Town, and their whereabouts were unknown. They submitted that police had been approached, but they were not making efforts for the recovery of the detainees.
Plea for protection
A woman has filed an application at the Sir Syed police station for protection against harassment. Sadia Rehan submitted that robbers intercepted her and her family in North Nazimabad, and looted cash, including foreign currency, her cellular phone and identification card on March 23.
She said that the incident was reported to the police; however, no action was being taken against the culprits.
