PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to submit a fresh report about the verification of SIMs by the cellular companies before next hearing.
A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Muhammad Younas Thaheem directed the PTA to submit fresh report about the SIMs verification in the country.
The bench issued the directives in a writ petition of Muhammad Atif Haleem, a former franchiser of a cellular company, filed against the use of illegal SIMs by the cellular companies in the country, especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata that were used in maximum bomb blasts, particularly in Peshawar city, extortion and other criminal acts.
