Kamran grabs 11 wickets as Abbottabad crush AJK
KARACHI: Left-arm spinner Kamran Ghulam picked 11 wickets to enable Abbottabad to crush Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) by 264 runs in their Group A match of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Grade-II at Dring Stadium, Bahawalpur, on Monday.
Kamran, who got 5-33 in the first innings, grabbed 6-26 to enable Abbottabad to dismiss AJK for only 80 in their second innings.
Naved Malik scored 26, while Abdul Shakoor made 20.Abbottabad, who had 91-run first innings lead, declared their second innings at 253-7 in 42 overs to set a daunting target for the minnows.
Sajjad Ali blasted 102 off 106 balls, striking 14 fours. Shadab Majeed got 5-59. Abbottabad had scored 287 in the first innings. In response, AJK perished for 196.
In a Group B outing here at TMC Ground, Larkana overwhelmed Dera Murad Jamali by nine wickets. After conceding a 50-run first innings lead, DM Jamali were folded for 175 in their second innings to set 126 runs for Larkana to win.
Larkana chased it in the 28th over, losing only Asif Babar, who belted 50-ball 48 with six fours and one six. Najeebullah scored 50 off 117 balls with six fours in DM Jamali’s second innings. Faraz Aziz got 4-23, while Imran Chandio and Ali Asghar got three wickets each.
DM Jamali posted 161 in their first innings. In response, Larkana posted 211-9. The Group A game between Multan and Bahawalpur ended in a draw at Multan Cricket Stadium with the former taking three points due to their first innings lead.
After conceding 206 runs lead, Bahawalpur had reached 306-6 in their second innings when the match ended. Raffay Ahmed scored 65. Jehanzeb Manzoor made 59. Mudassir Nazir Ahmed scored 40. Asif Fawad got 2-35. Bahawalpur posted 135 in their first innings. In response, Multan staged 341-8.
The Group B clash between Karachi Blues and Hyderabad at Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad, also failed to yield any result with the visitors securing three points due to their first innings lead. Chasing 243, Hyderabad had reached 201-7 in their second innings when play ended.
Azeem Ghumman scored 70 off 50 balls. He hammered five fours and four sixes. Spinner Mohammad Asghar got 4-73. Karachi Blues, having a 41-run lead, resumed their second innings at 43-3 and perished for 200. Left-handed young batsman Saud Shakeel smashed 86 off 171 balls, striking 11 fours. Hassan Mohsin struck 44. Left-arm spinner Kashif Bhatti got 4-52, for a match-tally of 9-210.
Nouman Ali and Nouman Akbar got three wickets each. Karachi Blues piled up 398-9 in their first innings. In response, Hyderabad made 357 all out.
