FAISALABAD: Indonesian Ambassador Burhan Muhammad has said that Indonesia is organising the textile expo for the first time and President Mamnoon Hussain has accepted his invitation to inaugurate it.
Talking to the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president here on Tuesday, he said that more than 100 leading firms from Asia and Africa would participate in the expo scheduled to be held from April 21 to 25 in Jakarta. He said that only four chambers of Pakistan - Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi - had been officially invited to attend the expo.
Being the main textile city of Pakistan, the FCCI would play a major role in making the expo a total success, the envoy hoped. He assured that Islamabad embassy would fully facilitate the participants of the expo. He said that the participants of the expo could also explore new opportunities of trade with Indonesia. He said that Pakistan had exported $240 million yarn and grey cloth to Indonesia and yet there was huge scope in this market. He hoped that maximum numbers of Pakistani exporters would participate in the expo.
FCCI president Rizwan Ashraf welcomed the first-ever Jakarta textile expo and said that it would not only give a new potential market to Pakistan but also help in further enhancing the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Indonesia. He suggested that Indonesia should consider direct air links between Faisalabad and Jakarta with one-year multiple visa facility to exporters and importers on the recommendations of the FCCI. He said that China was already issuing one-year multiple visas on the recommendations of the FCCI and Indonesia should also adopt the system to give a quantum jump to the trade volume.
