Convocation of Jinnah College for Women Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Around 359 graduates received degrees at the 22nd convocation of the Jinnah College for Women (JCW) on Saturday.
Vice-Chancellor University of Peshawar Professor Dr Muhammad Asif Khan was the chief guest of the event held at the Convocation Hall of University of Peshawar.
Dr Muhammad Asif Khan awarded degrees to 359 graduates of 2014 to 2017 sessions. Twelve graduates received gold medals for their outstanding academic performance.
The gold medallists were Hafiza Fatima Rehmani, Sumbal Naz, Sara, Sidratul Muntaha of the Bachelor of Science (BSc) programme and Wajeeha Riaz, Farhana and Hira Farooq of the Bachelor of Arts (BA) programme. Faiza Arif and Hania Shah of the BS Economics and Tahira Parveen and Zulaikha Rafiq received gold medals in the BS Chemistry programme.
Presenting the annual report of the college, Prof Dr Shazia Babar, the principal, said that the academic results showed that quality of education was being imparted in the college. She praised the former principal Safia Hassan for providing a strong base for college to stand tall among other higher educational institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Muhammad Asif Khan said the JCW was a brand of University of Peshawar and the UoP administration would look after its demands to keep its premium status of imparting girls’ education in the country.
The pro-vice chancellor, registrar, deans and syndicate members were also present on this occasion.
