Nation should be informed what promises were made in two-hour meeting: Siraj
MULTAN: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq on Thursday welcomed the Chief Justice of Pakistan’s statement on ruling out imposition of judicial martial law.
Addressing a workers convention in Muzaffargarh, he said the CJP has outright rejected the imposition of judicial martial law. He said the nation should be briefed about the two-hour-long meeting between the prime minister and the CJP, adding the process of accountability should not be stopped. The nation should be informed what promises were made in the two-hour-long meeting.
“Masses will not accept any type of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). The JI did not accept Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan People’s Party panel in the Senate elections. I am very much surprised how the PTI voted in favour of the PPP candidate in the Senate elections,” he added. The JI had agreed with Raja Zafarul Haq on six points and the release of Dr Afia Siddiqui was on top priority. “Democracy is not strong in the country but Panadol is not the treatment. No political party has democratic culture. The JI does not decide matters on family legacies,” he added.
Siraj said 95 percent population of the country was poor and the Pakistani rupee was devalued due to failed policies of the government. “The external debt burden has increased due to rupee devaluation,” he said. He claimed that a true leadership was introduced through the platform of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal.
Talking about the backwardness of south Punjab, he said district Muzaffargarh was facing economic and political terrorism. The people of south Punjab were living in deplorable conditions. “They are living below the poverty line. The JI is organising the people of south Punjab and would stand by them in their struggle for basic rights,” he added.
