PHF names probables for Youth Olympics
ISLAMABAD: The 3rd Youth Olympics are scheduled to be held in Buenos Aires (Argentine) from October 1-12 this year. The Asian hockey qualifiers for the Youth Olympics are to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from April 25-29.Top two teams from these qualifiers will represent Asia at the Youth Olympics.
Pakistan Hockey Federation has named 51 probable for the initial camp for the Youth Olympics, starting from 2nd April at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad. The players have been directed to report to Kamran Ashraf, the coach of the national junior team at the Allama Iqbal hostel, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad by the afternoon of 1st April.
It is pertinent to mention that the hockey event of the Youth Olympics is played on 5-a-side format. Hence, the PHF has planned a 5-a-side tournament for the camp trainees, at the newly established Shahnaz Sheikh hockey stadium in Rawalpindi. The tournament will be held alongside with the training camp.
