HAFIZABAD: Members of the Apca and different teachers unions on Sunday staged a demonstration against the transfer of EDO Education Muhammad Ashraf.
The protesters were led by Muttahida Mahaz Asataza chairman Riaz Ahmad Tarar, Muhammad Abubakar Alvi, Naseeruddin, Mian Ghulam Abbas, Jafar Bajwa, Fiaz Ahmad, Mushtaq Ahmad, Zubair Hashmi, Aqeel Azad and Shabbir Ahmad Gujjar. The protesters chanted slogans against the transfer of the EDO and said that he was transferred on political basis. They said that some politicians were interfering into the affairs of the Education Department in the district owing to which education officers were being pressurised. They alleged that some gangsters backing by a local MPA had misbehaved with the EDO and hurled threats to him. Later, the EDO transferred, they added. They demanded the government cancel the transfer of the EDO and a case should be registered against those persons who had threatened him.
