PESHAWAR: The Local Government Officers Association has set three-day deadline to the police to register a first information report against woman lawmaker Nighat Orakzai and others for injuring Deputy Director Terminals City, Riaz Ahmad Awan, by throwing acid on his face.
The association’s president Ihsanullah, senior vice-president Alamzeb Khan, general secretary Mian Shafiqur Rehman and others held a meeting at the Local Governance School in Hayatabad.
They condemned the act of the female MPA and others for throwing acid on the officer who was performing his duty.
The association threatened province-wide protest from March 26 if the police did not register the FIR against the attackers by March 25.
On Wednesday, the city district government sent a letter to SHO of the Khan Raziq Police Station for registration of the FIR against MPA Nighat Orakzai, Bashirullah, wife of Bashirullah, Muhammad Iqbal, Wakeel and Zafar Shinwari, president of Namak Mandi traders union.
It was stated in the letter that in continuation of the office letter issued on March 19, for demolition of shops owned by the City District Government at Namak Mandi, the staff was busy in action on March 21 when the culprits attacked the government officers and beat up Riaz Ahmad Awan, Deputy Director Terminals City, injuring him seriously.
