Pakistan beat Philippines in Asian squash event
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan men’s team got off to a winning start in the 19th Asian Team Squash Championships that got under way in South Korea Wednesday.
In men’s event, Pakistan thrashed Philippines 3-0 with all the leading players winning their matches easily.Pakistan have been placed in Pool B alongside Korea, Philippines and Sri Lanka whereas in women’s event, Pakistan are placed in Pool A with Hong Kong, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka prevailed over Pakistan 2-0 in women’s event.Results: Men’s event: Farhan Zaman bt Robert Andrew 12-10, 11-6, 11-7; Tayyab Aslam bt David Williams 11-6, 11-5, 11-4; Amaad Fareed bt Reymark Begornia 11-4, 11-5, 11-5.
Women’s event: Sri Lanka bt Pakistan 2-0 (Fothoum Issadeen bt Riffat Khan 11-4, 8-11, 13-11, 11-8; Mihiliya Methsarani bt Madina Zafar 11-8, 11-7, 11-6).
