Musharraf treason case hearing on 29th
ISLAMABAD: The special court will start hearing a high treason case against former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf from March 29. A three-member bench, consisting Justice Yawar Ali and Justice Tahira Safdar, headed by Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Yahya Khan Afridi will hear the case. The special court had on March 8 adjourned further hearing of the case till March 21, however the hearing will now start from March 29. According to sources, the registrar of the special court has informed the parties about the new date, but no reason could be ascertained for the change. The special court on March 8 had ordered the Interior Ministry to contact the Interpol for the arrest of the accused and had also ordered the accused to contact the Interior Ministry for the security arrangements. The counsel for Pervez Musharraf, Akhtar Shah had adopted stance before the special court that his client wanted to appear in the court but his life was under threat, therefore, he should be provided security through the Ministry of Defence. The court reminded Musharraf's lawyer that the prosecution has already assured of making security arrangements.
