CJP orders Rao Anwar to appear
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar remarked if Rao Anwar appeared before the court, he would be saved and if he came in the court, he would be provided with protection.
He further remarked, “If we come to know about the facilitators of Rao Anwar, they will also be held accountable. The CJP gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench during the course of hearing of Naqeeb Ullah extrajudicial killing suo motu notice on Monday.
State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Tariq Bajwa told the court that Rao Anwar was holding two bank accounts which had been frozen. The court asked if the salary was going to the bank account. SBP head said that salary was going to bank account but it could not be drawn.
CJP remarked if Rao Anwar came in the court, protection would be provided to him and he would become secure. “If we come to know about facilitators of Rao Anwar, they will also be held accountable. He inquired from Sindh IG if he was ready for briefing on CCTV footage to this he responded positively. CJP directed the Sindh IG to give in-camera briefing on Monday at 1.30pm.
The CJP inquired from Bahria Town representative if its helicopter not used for Rao Anwar and if an affidavit had come from Malik Riaz. The representative replied Malik Riaz had filed the affidavit.
CJP inquired who facilitated Rao Anwar on airport. Who issued him pass on the airport. Sindh IG told the court boarding pass of a private airlines was issued. The court summoned the authorities concerned of the private airlines.
