KARACHI: Mohammad Waqas hammered 143 to enable Omar Associates to gain 39 runs lead against Capital Development Authority (CDA) on the second day of their three-day Group B match of Patron’s Trophy Grade-II at Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi on Saturday.
Waqas smashed 13 fours and two sixes in his 222-ball hundred to guide Omar Associates to 307 all out in their first innings. They had resumed at 77-3 in response to CDA’s 268.
Waqas was smartly backed by Test cricketer Mohammad Amir, who scored 29 off 80 balls with four fours.
Zohaib Ahmed (3-75) and spinner Imad Wasim (3-52) bowled well.
At stumps, CDA were 88-2 in their second innings. Ali Sarfraz was batting on 47.
Mohammad Amir, who had picked 3-73 in the first innings, got 1-39 in six overs.
Here at RLCA Ground, Zia-ul-Haq scored 166 with 14 fours as Customs gained lead when they reached 376-8 in 76.1 overs at stumps in response to Saudi Cricket International’s 330-7.
Ramiz Shehzad belted 82 with seven fours and three sixes. Nadeem Babar got 3-68.
Saudi Cricket International resumed the day at 263-6 and posted 330-7 in the stipulated 83 overs. Mohammad Zohaib hit 111 with ten fours and a six.
Salman Hafeez smashed unbeaten 48 with four fours. Irfan Khan captured 3-70.
Here at NBP Sports Complex, K-Electric declared their first innings against Medicam at 354-5 after starting at 337-5 as only seven overs were bowled due to wet conditions.
Behram Khan, who was batting on 123, remained not out on 129.
Medicam were 18-0 at close.
Here at UBL Ground No1, Sindh Police were on the verge of an innings defeat at the hands of Navy. After being forced to follow on, Sindh Police were 151-7 in their second innings. They need 61 more runs to avoid innings defeat.
Qambar Iqbal scored 48. Fawad Khan got three wickets. Nasir Awais captured two.
Earlier, Nasir Awais took 6-60 and Zohaib Shera got 4-54 to enable Navy to dismiss Sindh Police for 197 in response to Navy’s first innings score of 408-6. Yasir Mushtaq hit 42 with six fours and two sixes.
In a Group B clash at Army Ground, Rawalpindi, Nouman Nazir (115) and Saboor Dawood (104) struck fine hundreds to enable Humak Engineering to secure 17 runs lead as they piled up 385 all out in reply to Army’s first innings total of 368-8.
Saddam Hussain struck 58 not out.
Khadim Jan and Nawaz Taimia got three wickets each. Army were 64-1 in their second innings at stumps.
At Model Town Ground, Lahore, Railways conceded 80 runs lead when they perished for 242 in their first innings in response to Brighto Paints’ 322.
Brighto Paints were 117-0 in their second innings, for a lead of 197.
In a Group D show, at Stags Ground, Lahore, Dollar East got 19 runs lead when they scored 263 in response to Services Industries’ first innings score of 244-5.
Services Industries were 80-3 in their second innings at close.
At LCCA Ground, Lahore, Higher Education Commission made a strong comeback as they reached 309-4 in their second innings against Income Tax after conceding 113 runs lead.
At Khayaban-e-Amin Ground, Lahore, Khayaban-e-Amin demolished Face Fresh by an innings and 57 runs.
Having conceded 187 runs lead, Face Fresh perished for 130 in their second innings. Shakeel Ahmed got 5-46, for match-figures of 9-89.
In response to Face Fresh’s 128, Khayaban-e-Amin had declared their first innings at 315-8.
