Institutions’ silence over Musharraf makes Nawaz unhappy
LAHORE: PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Saturday held meetings at his Jati Umrah residence with key party leaders to discuss matters related to the party cohesion, national politics in view of the coming general elections and the ongoing cases against the former prime minister.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid and Khawaja Haris were among those who met Nawaz. The matter of PML-N members and electable personalities that are in any way at odds with the party and the strategy to address the grievances of these leaders and activists before the general elections also came under discussion.
Khawaja Haris, who is the counsel for Nawaz in the NAB references, briefed the former premier on the current status and possible outcomes of the cases. Sources say during his meetings, Nawaz was particularly concerned about the silence of institutions over Pervez Musharraf and why there was no commotion over his name not being put on ECL. The matter of nomination of opposition leader in Senate also came brought under discussion during the meetings.
Nawaz and his daughter Maryam Nawaz will address a rally Sangla Hill today (Sunday) at around 1:30pm.
