LAHORE: Ambassador of China to Pakistan Yao Jing Friday said China could not afford to lose Pakistan because stability in its neighborhood is integral to China’s development.

He said this at an interactive policy dialogue “Pakistan-China Relations in the 21st century” organised by Lahore Centre for Peace Research (LCPR) in honour of the Ambassador.

He iterated Pakistan’s importance to China would increase because of the relations between the two countries and the centrality of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route in the “One Belt One Road (OBOR)” initiative. He said CPEC would be beneficial for the whole world. “China envisages CPEC to be a leading project for connectivity and peace,” he added.

Lahore Center for Peace Research Chairman Shamshad Ahmed Khan highlighted the unwavering commitment of Pakistan and China to strengthen economic and social ties between the two countries. China’s relations with Pakistan were not based only on transient interests but also had remained unconditional in the hour of need, he said.

The event was attended by the Chinese Consul General Long Dingbin, former Finance Minister Dr Salman Shah, former Pakistan diplomats and notable defense analysts and people from the academia.
