OKARA: Police on Saturday arrested Malik Saleem Jhakhar, Anjuman-e-Mazareen Punjab president, Kulyana State Okara, who had been declared a proclaimed offender by the additional sessions judge court in 2013.
The court had awarded him three-year rigorous imprisonment in murder, illegal occupation of land and 7-ATA cases. A police team headed by Sadar police SHO inspector Mehr Ismail raided and arrested Jhakhar. Earlier, on the order of the Lahore High Court, the district police had cleared NO Go Area of Renala Khurd State and arrested AMP Renala Khurd State president Nadeem Ashraf who was also been at large in murder and other cases. Jhakhar was allegedly directly or indirectly involved in 71 heinous cases including harassment and preparing a gang-like force of armed accomplices who could commit violations against rural society when and where required. He had also allegedly occupied the government lands illegally in the area allotted to serving and retired army officers. After awarding of three-year RI from the court, Jhakhar had disappeared but the police succeeded to arrest him. After the arrest of Malik Saleem Jhakhar, the DPO had issued directions to the district police to keep the Lahore-Multan and Faisalabad-ward GT roads under constant surveillance and check. He also issued strict directions that if any person or group found obstructing traffic the police must arrest them immediately.
