Swabi lawyers ask KP Speaker to honour commitments
PESHAWAR: A lawyer association from the home district of Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser issued legal notice to him for not honouring his announcement for the bar.
The Tehsil Bar Association Chota Lahor in Swabi district issued the legal notice through its president and general secretary to the speaker KP Assembly, asking him to honour his announcement to the bar within 14 days or else face legal action.
As per the notice, the lawyer body stated that, “you (Asad Qaiser) are informed that on April 15, 2015 you were the chief guest in oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected cabinet of Chota Lahor Bar Association (Swabi) for the year 2015-16, in which you accepted the demands presented by the bar.”
The demands included reconstruction/expansion of the existing bar room, construction of 20 offices for the lawyers, construction of cafeteria, lawyers and petitioners’ sheds and washrooms, establishment of a utility store in the court premises, arrangement of books and providing furniture to the bar library, establishment of car parking and beautification of grounds with grass and flowers, deployment of Class-IV for the bar association and Rs1 million grant for the bar association.
It said the bar association has time and again met the quarters concerned, but of no use. “You failed to fulfil none of your commitment/announce ments till date. Therefore, through this legal notice, you are informed to fulfil all commitments made by you at the bar within 14 days, otherwise, legal action will be taken against you,” the notice read.
