GUJRANWALA: A sessions judge on Thursday issued black warrants for a prisoner for March 17.
The prisoner, Muhammad Iqbal, had gunned down his relative Muhammad Sharif over a domestic dispute at Wazirabad on August 13, 1996.
He was booked by Wazirabad City police while Additional Sessions Judge Raja Abdul Qayyum had awarded him death sentence on October 19, 1998. The Lahore High Court had rejected his appeal on May 5, 2006 while the Supreme Court had rejected his appeal on March 27, 2008. Later, he filed a mercy petition, which was rejected by the president on January 29, 2013.
