Family of Asma Rani wants case shifted to Peshawar
KOHAT: The family of Asma Rani has requested shifting of the murder case of the medical student to Peshawar. Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, the father of Asma Rani, Ghulam Dastagir, said the main suspect Mujahid's uncle and brother were lawyers in Kohat and, therefore, the case should be shifted to Peshawar.
He said the murderer of his daughter must get punishment for his crime to save the lives of scores of innocent girls in the country. Meanwhile, the police got 10-day remand of the accused Mujahid Afridi. Also, IGP Salahuddin Mahsud awarded certificates and cash prizes to cops for conducting a thorough investigation into the murder case of Asma Rani.
Asma Rani, a third-year medical student, was shot dead in Kohat in January. The prime suspect had later fled abroad from the Benazir Bhutto Airport Islamabad after the murder. The KP Police had approached the Federal Investigation Agency for issuance of red warrants against the accused, after which Interpol placed his name on the list of wanted persons. He was arrested and handed over to the KP Police recently.
