ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Monday said the "pawns" have actually faced a defeat today and dared them to "appear before the nation," Geo News reported.

Meanwhile, reacting to the defeat of the PML-N in elections for the Senate chairman and deputy chairman, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting MarriyumAurangzeb on Monday said that the ugly face of those who chanted slogans for change had been exposed.

“The ugly faces of those elements who chanted slogans for change have been exposed today,” Maryam Aurangzeb, flanked by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, said while talking informally to newsmen. The PML-N, the majority party in the Senate enjoying support of its allies, was hopeful of victory for the Senate chairman elections.

The minister said Nawaz Sharif never participated in the process of buying votes. “He is the one who never compromised on principles and remains firm on his stand,” she said. She said the way votes were purchased in KP, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab and those winning the Senate elections were congratulating each other was also before all. “It is Nawaz Sharif who never compromised on principles and did not indulge in the exercise of purchasing votes,” she said.

She claimed that the ones who stabbed in the back were exposed before the public today. The state minister said that the biggest step still lies ahead adding that the people will vote for Nawaz Sharif and the ideology of the PML-N will emerge victorious. Talal Chaudhry said those purchasing votes would face the real test when the people would elect their representatives in the coming general elections.
