TAKHT BHAI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq on Friday said when Baba Rahmata would summon 436 people named in Panama Papers. He said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Mian Raza Rabbani was the best choice for the Senate chairmanship to prevent horse-trading in the race for the top slot.
Speaking at a public meeting in Hathian area here, the JI chief said horse-trading was at its peak to get support for Senate chairmanship.
He said first horse-trading was done in the Senate election and now political parties were out to attract the senators with various offers to get their party choice candidate elected as chairman of the Upper House of the parliament.
"If the politicians really want to prevent further horse-trading in the election of Senate chairman, the outgoing Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani is the best candidate for the slot," he proposed.
He said almost all the politicians had alleged horse-trading in the Senate elections and asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to summon the leadership of all the political parties and the parliamentarians and direct them all to swear on the Holy Quran whether they indulged in horse-trading in the Senate election or not. Sirajul Haq said that the poor were moving from pillar to post to get justice, adding justice was being sold in the country. "Provision of cheap and speedy justice is not possible until and unless Islamic rule is enforced in the country," he said. He said the educated youth could not find employment while the poor lacked health, education and other basic amenities of life. The JI chief said that the politicians with vested interests hoodwinked the poor to get voted to power but forget the same after making it into the corridor of power.
Senator Sirajul Haq said that the JI would enforce Sharia law in the country if voted into power. He said that creating job opportunities to eliminate unemployment and provision of health, education and other basic facilities and putting an end to the interest-based system were the top priorities of JI. "To enforce Islamic law in the country would be the first order the JI would issue after forming government," he assured.
He also criticised the leadership of the Muslim countries for what he argued their silence over the bloodshed in Syria. "The rulers of Muslim countries are a bunch of puppets of the US and Western countries. The massacres of the Muslims in Syria could not attract the attention of the so-called leaders of Muslim countries," he lamented. Activists of various political parties joined JI on the occasion. The JI leaders including Senator-elect Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and others also spoke on the occasion.
