Father of BISE Mardan topper seeks scholarshipfor daughter
PESHAWAR: The father of a student who achieved distinction in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan examination has accused certain officials of the Benevolent Fund Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of deliberately excluding his daughter's name from the scholarship list.
Khizar Hayat, an Arabic teacher in a government school, told The News that his daughter Sara Khizar had secured first position in SSC examination, obtaining 1,041 marks out of 1,100 in the Mardan Board in 2016.
He said that being a government servant, he had applied to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Benevolent Fund for merit scholarship in 2017 and met all the requirements for the said scholarship. "I obtained covering letter from the district education officer, Nowshera, filled the required form and sent it through the post office on February 22," he said. He added that he had a receipt of the registration post mailing.
Khizar Hayat said that his daughter Sara Khizar had obtained 94.6 percent marks in the SSC examination but her name was not included in the list for merit scholarship by certain officials of the Benevolent Fund. He said these officials took the plea that they did not receive any form or application for the scholarship.
"The record of General Post Office, Peshawar, revealed that the envelope (application) was delivered on February 24, 2017 to its destination," he said. He appealed to the secretary education and secretary Benevolent Fund to include the name of Sara Khizar in the merit scholarship for 2017.
