Kohat win U23 Inter-District Games
KOHAT: Kohat lifted the overall trophy in the Kohat Region Under-23 Inter-District Games with nine gold medals here at the Kohat Sports Complex Tuesday.
Kohat won golds in athletic, judo, wrestling, gymnastic, squash, basketball, badminton, hockey while silver medals were grabbed in tennis, karate, tug-of-war, kabaddi and table tennis. Kohat grabbed first position with 132 points in total.
Karak stood second with 82 points by winning five golds in table tennis, karate, kabaddi, tennis while silver medals were won in athletic, judo, gymnastic. Single bronze medal was there in wrestling.
Hangu claimed third position by scoring 65 points with a single gold medal in tug-of-war. Five silver medals were also bagged by Hangu in wrestling, squash, basketball, badminton and hockey while karate, judo, gymnastic, and table tennis won four bronze.
As many as 500 male players from the three districts of Kohat division took part in 15 different sports disciplines during the event.MPA Ziaullah Bangash was the chief guest on the occasion and gave away awards, trophies and medals to the winners.The winners were awarded with Rs20,000 while runners-up pocketed Rs15,000 each. Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junaid Khan and large number of spectators were also present on the occasion.
