SHC adjourns hearing of Axact’s TV channel licence
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of application against cancellation of its license by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority after partial hearing the arguments of the Bol TV counsel.
Applicant Labaik has challenged the PEMRA order with regard to cancellation of Axact's TV channel's licence due to lack of security clearance by the Interior Ministry. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority had on May 3 revoked licenses of Bol News and Bol Entertainment after the Interior Ministry rejected security clearance of the company’s directors.
The counsel of the applicant, Anwar Mansoor Khan, submitted that PEMRA malafide revoked the license of the Bol TV license on recommendations of the council of complaints, which has no authority to do so. The SHC’s single bench headed by Justice Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui after partial hearing the arguments of the channel's counsel adjourned the matter till March 16.
