Drive to educate kids on cleanliness

LAHORE: Albayrak Company Wednesday organised an anti-littering drive at Child Protection and Welfare Bureau to educate children about waste management and cleanliness habits.

Albayrak professionals delivered lectures to the children underlining the significance of cleanliness and presented a short-film based on waste management. A colouring competition was also arranged to engage children on the subject. Albayrak installed special basketball shaped waste bins in the premises of the bureau. Later, the children signed resolution cards taking oath to keep their surroundings clean.

PHP: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) registered 256 cases against commuters who paid no heeds to traffic rules. Punjab Highway Patrol seized 26 motorbikes for using fake registration or green number plates. Furthermore, PHP team arrested seven gamblers Ghulam Akbar, Safder, Imtiaz, M Nasir, M Sagheer, M Yasmeen, Bakhat Ali and recovered Rs6,210 from them. Moreover, PHP team arrested eight drunken persons Zeeshan, Ghulam Shahzad, Irfan Sarwar, Nasir Mehmood, Tasawar, Zakaullah, Ghulam Abbas and Ammar Yasir who were disturbing public peace. While PHP arrested three bike-riders Toor Rehman, Shahid Masih and Shafqat on charge of wheelie-doing. PHP team arrested 16 culprits on fixing prohibited gas cylinder.

ACCIDENTS: A total 784 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which five lives were lost and 477 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts and tehsils. However, some 402 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot.

Trains timings: Railway officials issued new schedule of trains for late departure from Lahore to Karachi here on Wednesday. The trains rescheduled for late departure were Karakoram DN-42, Karachi Express DN-16, Shalimar Night Coach DN-44, Business Express304, Akbar Express24 down, Awam Express 14 down, Millat Express 18 down. According Railway Administration Division Lahore, Karakoram DN-42 will leave for Karachi at 6:30pm, Karachi Express DN-16 will leave for Karachi at 1am next day, Shalimar Night Coach DN-44 will leave Karachi for at 11:30pm, Business Express304 will leave for Karachi at 12:30, Awam Express 14 down will leave for Karachi at 9:00pm and Millat Express 18 down will leave for Karachi at 9pm.
