Court issues arrest warrants for Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: The court of Additional Sessions Judge on Tuesday issued bailable arrest warrant for former military ruler Gen (R) Pervez Musharraf and has ordered to appear before the court on April 2 regarding the murder case of Lal Masjid cleric Ghazi Abdul Rasheed.
Additional Sessions Judge Wajid Ali Khan also rejected the request for Musharraf’s exemption from appearance in court.The court also issued a bailable arrest warrant for former president and ordered release only on submission of surety bond worth Rs100,000.
Musharraf’s counsel had previously questioned the jurisdiction of the court as a case regarding Lal Masjid is already pending in the Supreme Court. He had also requested exemption from appearing in court for this case.Police registered a case against Musharraf in 2013 over the alleged murder of cleric Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and his wife during the Lal Masjid military operation.
