People won’t accept controlled democracy: Pervaiz Rashid
ISLAMABAD: PML-N leader Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Thursday said efforts were being made to introduce engineered democracy in Pakistan, adding that the people would never accept engineered elections and controlled democracy. “Pakistani nation have repeatedly placed their trust in Nawaz Sharif and are protecting democracy under his leadership, he told media outside the accountability court hearing NAB references against the Sharif family. “People have not accepted any verdict against Nawaz Sharif. Only that person will lead the party who is considered capable by Nawaz Sharif, he asserted.” Similarly, Capt retd Safdar said Maulvi Tameezuddin-like verdicts were announced and such decisions had resulted in separation of East Pakistan. The PML-N MNA said the Parliament was supreme but no one was ready to accept its supremacy. Safdar said, “All eyes are now on the Parliament and the time would tell if it becomes a municipal committee or exercises its powers.” Talal Chaudhry said party office and prime ministership were not a concern for Nawaz, adding, “We will reverse all the decisions with the power of vote.”
